‘Morning Call’ is a Community Alarm Service which has been operating in the Highlands since January, 1990.

 


 

The Morning Call Service provides a daily telephone call to individuals who live alone who wish the reassurance of knowing that they will be contacted each day to make sure they are not in difficulty. Unlike most alarm systems, the initiative for making the contact lies with the service not the individual.


All ‘clients’ receive a telephone call from Morning Call each day of the year between 8 am and 10 am. The service is free to recipients. If a call goes unanswered it is repeated after an interval and if it remains unanswered action is taken. In most cases this consists of contacting a relative, friend or neighbour nominated by the recipient.


The difference these calls make to the lives of many people is beyond belief. With many of the clients we call this will be the only person they speak to all day. Our service ensures that all our clients are checked upon each day of the year. This gives reassurance not only to the client but also to friends and family.


Should there be no reply from a client and we are genuinely concerned there should be - we will call an agreed person – all clients should have at least 2 contacts. If there is no reply from contacts we will call the local hospital / their health centre or day centre they attend.
